Randy Surrett has returned to Floyd County Schools to lead the football program at Model High School.  Surrett was named head coach at Model High at a called meeting of the Floyd County Board of Education held Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.  This will be Surrett’s second tour in Floyd County Schools as he was an assistant coach at Armuchee High from 1989 to 1995.  He is certified in social studies, special education and administration.

Randy Surrett is a 1983 graduate of Cedartown High School and grew up in Polk County.  He is currently an assistant coach working with defense at Woodland High School in Bartow County.   He said, “I am glad to be back in Floyd County and I am looking forward to leading the football program at Model High School.”  Surrett has also coached at Rockmart High, Cartersville High and in Alabama in his career.

Surrett was selected from a field of 30 candidates according to comments made by Dr. Glenn White, principal of Model High School, while introducing Randy Surrett to the board.  White said, "After an extensive process, I think we've found the person who will lead our program in a successful manner."

Surrett will finish the year at Woodland but will also coordinate the spring football drills at Model High School.
