Monday, September 6:

  • Floyd County System: Student/Employee Holiday - The Board of Education (central office) and schools will be closed for Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 7:

  • Board of Education: (7:00 p.m.) - The Floyd County Board of Education meeting for the month of September will be held in the board room in the central office on Riverside Parkway. The board caucus meeting precedes each regularly scheduled meeting and begins at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise advertised. The public is invited to attend the meetings.
  • Alto Park Elementary: (8:00 - 3:30 p.m.) - Scholastic Book Fair - Parents are invited to the book fair in the school media center. The book fair will run through Friday, September 10.
  • Cave Spring Elementary: Fall Pictures - Students will have their pictures taken throughout the day.
    (8:00 - 3:30 p.m.) - Scholastic Book Fair -  The book fair will continue through Friday, September 10.

Wednesday, September 8:

  • Floyd County System: Progress reports 

Thursday, September 9:

  • Floyd County System: (8:30 a.m.) - Superintendent's Advisory Committee Meeting will take place at the new Model High School. The breakfast is at 8:30 and the meeting begins at 9 a.m.
  • Floyd County Middle Schools: (9:00 - 1:00 p.m.) - "Ignorance Is No Defense" Lecture - All county eighth grade student will attend the lecture "Ignorance Is No Defense" by J. Tom Morgan. The lecture will address Georgia educational standards requiring eighth grade students to understand the juvenile justice system in our state. The students will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk with Mr. Morgan.
  • Alto Park Elementary: (lunchtime) - Grandparent's Day Luncheon - Grandparents are invited to come and have lunch with your grandchildren in Pre-K, Kindergarten, or 1st grade.
  • Armuchee Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - Scrabble Club
  • Cave Spring Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - Back to School Luau - Come and enjoy the activities. There will be face painting, pizza, candy and other refreshments. The luau will take place in the school gym. The proceeds from this event will help in the purchase of technology for the 4th and 5th grade classrooms.
  • Coosa Middle: (8:30 - 2:30 p.m.) - 8th grade students in the Communities-In-Schools program will participate in the Ropes Course at Berry College.

Friday, September 10:

  • Alto Park Elementary: (lunchtime) - Grandparent's Day Luncheon - Grandparents are invited to have lunch with your grandchildren in grades 2nd thru 5th.
  • Cave Spring Elementary: (10:00 a.m.) - Grandparent's Day Celebration - Grandparents are invited to enjoy the many activities throughout the school with their grandchildren.
  • Garden Lakes Elementary: (lunchtime) - Grandparent’s Day Picnic - Grandparents can enjoy a picnic with their grandchildren on school grounds. Reservations are required by Tuesday, September 7th. The cost is $3.50 per adult. Special photos will be available for $2.00.
  • Pepperell Elementary: (lunchtime) - 5th Grade Special Persons Luncheon - The 5th grade students may invite a special person for lunch.
